JESUS CHRIST IS THE SON OF GOD. The gospel of Mark is not a biography but a concise history of our redemption story. Mark presents Jesus Christ as the Son of God. Indeed he begins his gospel like this: "The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ the Son of God..." Mark 1:1 Being the Son of God, He had authority to teach the way He taught; He had authority over Satan, over the Sabbath, over sin, over nature and so forth. Beloved, ultimately what counts in the realm of the spirit is authority. Spirits and principalities submit to spiritual authorities. Jesus as the only begotten Son of God has all authority in heaven and on earth. This was His declaration after His resurrection from the dead. Authority is also another word for dominion. Matthew 16:13-20, Proverbs 4. JESUS IS THE MESSIAH. Welcome to the New Testament! The One that was promised thousands of years ago in Genesis 3, the One that was called the Great Promise of the Old Testament is finally here and He is first introduced to us in the gospel of Matthew. The gospel of Matthew presents Jesus as the fulfillment of messianic hopes and expectations. Matthew carefully structures his narratives to reveal Jesus as fulfilling specific prophecies. Matthew's use of the title "Son of God" clearly underscores Jesus deity. The word 'Messiah' means 'the anointed One". It also means "expected deliverer". This is really a derivation from the Hebrew. HE IS THE SUN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS THAT RISES WITH HEALINGS IN HIS WINGS (THE BOOK OF MALACHI) Scripture Reading: Malachi 4:2 Additional Bible Reading:  Isaiah 58:8. Jeremiah 33:6, Proverbs 3 JESUS CHRIST IS THE SUN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS THAT ARISES WITH HEALING IN HIS WINGS. In this last Book of the Old Testament, we see our Messiah represented in a powerful way. The Prophet Malachi in Malachi 3:1 says that the Messenger of the (new) covenant that we are seeking will appear suddenly in His temple – Malachi 3:1; but the most profound is the verse that the Sun of righteousness will arise with healing in His wings. The word healing here in the Hebrew is ‘marpe’ and it means restoration of health, remedy, cure, medicine, tranquility, deliverance, and refreshing. The Book of Zechariah sometimes is referred to as the most messianic of the Old Testament Books. Two references among the many are of profound significance.
