AS YOUR DAYS ARE, SO SHALL YOUR STRENGTH BE (PART 4)
Powerful words by wise King Solomon, the writer of Ecclesiastes. We said yesterday that you should be as strong as your day, if not stronger. We said that this strength comes from knowing what we ought to be doing per time. Today, we will take this truth a bit further. It is important to establish that our journeys in life are different even if you were born as twins from the same parents. Your day will be different from your brother and friend's day. Your month will be different. It is important that you locate your peculiar journey and begin to walk in it. There may be similar landmarks and terrains but the journey is different. Your season to gather stones may be different from your neighbor's season who may be throwing stones. We must know that our days are different. There are no classmates in the school of life! Secondly, this scripture drives home the truth that you must know what you should be doing per time. There are things to stop doing in August and there are things to start doing in August, Period! What are you stopping and what are you starting? For every stage of our lives, there are things we should be doing. In the early years of our lives there are things we should be doing, in our mid-life there are things we should be doing and in our twilight years there are things we should be doing. In your mid-life, you should not be doing things that your young children are doing. As your days are, so shall your strength be! Trust God to help you NOT to miss the peculiar times, seasons, cycles and patterns of your life. Everyday and time was given for a purpose by God. It should not be wasted or squandered. We will ultimately account for our use of our time here. How well do you use a typical twenty-four hour day? What purposes do you use your day to achieve? Do you spend more of your day in pursuing leisure and pleasure than in productive activities? Are you totally selfish in the use of your time? We should not be like the patriarchs listed in Genesis who lived for huge number of years but left zero impact in history and humanity. They were born, begot and died; this was the only mark on their gravestones. May a significant part of the strength of your day, week, month and year be used to serve God and touch the lives of others. Remember to serve the Lord in the days of your youth and at all times! Welcome to a new day!
Question and Reflection of the Day: What purpose fills your typical day? It has been said that it is not the years of our life that matters but the life in our years.
Today's Prayer: Holy Spirit lead me to live a purpose driven life. May my days be full of purpose. Bless this day, Lord Jesus.
