A COMPELLING VISION OF THE NEW (PART 2).

Welcome to a new day! One of the biggest problems we have in life even as Christians is that we do not trust God completely. We may say that we have faith and that we trust Him but in real flesh and blood situations it becomes apparent that we really do not trust God sufficiently.  It is very natural to trust the KNOWN. What makes a comfort zone a comfort zone is because we have tried it several times, we know what it has to offer, we know the strengths and weaknesses - in a few words, it is predictable. In the actual sense of the word, many comfort zones are not really COMFORTABLE but that is all we know and are certain of, so we settle there. In yesterday's study, Lot did not want to move too far away from the known, tested and tried comfort zone. Looking at today's main scripture and the background knowledge we have of that situation, the children of Israel had come out of a very long period of difficult slavery and servitude under very Egyptian task masters, but because of a compelling vision of their new future and very importantly trust for God, many opted to go back to a yesterday that was predictable. Some of you reading this devotional are in situations where God has told you to move forward- it could be a job situation or a relationship issue, but you have chosen to trust the old comfort zone rather than trust God. Abraham is one of the greatest heroes of our faith because he made a very difficult decision to follow God to an "unknown" destination when like many, he could have settled in the comfortable and familiar. He trusted God completely and in the words of the Bible, he kept looking for that city whose builder and foundation is God. Who is the builder and foundation of your city? Who is the builder and foundation of that relationship and that job?  How comfortable is that your comfort zone? Are you planning to go back to Egypt?  Allow God to speak to you today.

Question and Reflection of the Day: Did you really hear from God on that matter? How well do you trust God? Be honest.

Today's Prayer: Father, help me not to go back to 'Egypt'. Help me to trust you completely even when I can't seem to see all the details of my new city. Bless my day Lord, Jesus. Please order my steps.
