DRESSING UP FOR THE NEW....
Yesterday we read about how the blind man threw away the garment that was symbolic of the old. Today we see Joseph also doing the same thing. He removed his old prison garment and adorns a garment for the future. Garments/clothes are very symbolic in the Bible. It represents spiritual realities. The Bible talks about garments of mourning, garments of joy, priestly garments, kingly garments etc. The young man Joseph was not planning to go back to prison after seeing Pharaoh. He knew that his "new day" had come. This was an opportunity that will totally change his life. Changing his physical garment was an act of faith reflecting his anticipation of a new reality. In the additional Bible reading today, we see the same thing with Prophet Elisha in a more aggressive and violent manner. He tore his garment of old and took on a new garment. This was an outward demonstration of an inward conviction and anticipation of a new day from God. Joseph shaved and cleaned up. How do you approach a new day? How do you approach a new week and month? Do you have any expectation that things will change for your good? Are you like Joseph? Approaching a new day not with the mindset and garment of the old but getting ready for the new things that God has promised you. Elisha was far more aggressive. He wasn't leaving any room to go back and pick up the old garment. He literally burnt the bridge to the issues of the past. He was desperately ready for a new day. What would a change of garment mean for you today? Are there any old lifestyles and habits that have tied you negatively to the past? Are you still in mourning over an old loss? Are you still in sack-clothes over the rejection and humiliation you suffered? Are you still broken hearted over that painful breakup? God is saying to you today that it is time to move on. It is time to change garments. Today, rip the old garment and adorn a new one. Your future that begins now will not ACCOMMODATE old clothes! Welcome to a new day!
Question and Reflection of the Day: What old garments or old attitudes are keeping you locked up in your yesterday? It is time to move on.
Today's Prayer: Father, grant me the faith to remove old limiting posture and attitudes and the faith to anticipate and embrace a new future. Bless my day, Lord Jesus.
